There were three brothers and two sisters in the HOPKINS family. James HOPKINS and Myrtle DENTON HOPKINS were raising their family in Sandersville GA in 1930. Where is Sandersville anyway? Why did they land there? What were they doing?
Sandersville is located in between Macon and Augusta GA. The area was known for it’s ‘summer snow’ or cotton crops. In the 50’s, after the family left the area it became famous for being the kaolin capitol of the world!
We don’t yet know why they landed there but we do know that James worked as a barber and Myrtle was busy at home. Their oldest child was age 13 and the youngest age 3.
The photo below showcases the brothers together as adults.
